New to Pennsylvania?

Here are some important things to know about  obtaining a PA driver's license.

If you've just moved to PA and have an out-of-state license, you have 60 days to swap it for a PA license. f you wait longer, you'll be required to labor through the whole testing process as if you were a new driver.

All services will require proof of insurance. Don't have auto insurance? You can visit our affinity partner's website Diemert Insurance, Inc. They can help get you insured fast and economically.
To swap out your out-of-state registration, license, plates, you must apply in person at a PA Driver's license center or our offices. If you're married and want your vehicle to be registered in both names, you will need your marriage license.

To swap your out-of-state license for a Pennsylvania one, you must apply in person at a Driver License Center and bring with you:

●  Your old license, which you must surrender

●  Proof of U.S. citizenship (Valid passport, birth, naturalization or citizenship certificate)

●  Two forms of proof confirming your residency in the state (see below)

●  Your Social Security card

●  A check or money order to pay the $26 fee for a four-year license.

All applicants for a new driver's license will need to pass two tests ― one written and one behind the wheel. If you are transferring a driver's license from another state, no testing is required.

If you wish to renew your valid Pennsylvania driver's license, you can submit your renewal application online, by mail, at a messenger service office, or any Pennsylvania Driver and Vehicle Service Center location. Upon receipt of your renewal application, a camera card will be mailed to you within ten days. To receive a new photo license, take the camera card and another type of identification to a Driver License and Photo License Center.
